Tracey Read

Founder, Plastic Free Seas

Hong Kong

Tracey Read is the founder of Plastic Free Seas a charity registered in Hong Kong since 2013.

Australian born Tracey has been in Hong Kong for 11 years and much of this time has been spent on beaches, in classrooms and most recently on the PFS Sea Classroom, connecting students and adults with the issues of microplastics and marine trash in the natural environment first hand and empowering people with solutions to reduce the negative impacts.

In 2012 Tracey sailed across the Pacific Ocean from Japan to Hawaii on a research expedition sampling the sea surface in the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. She wanted to see for herself where all our trash goes when it enters the sea.

Through her current role and previous business venture she has been involved with environmental sustainability and has advised on environmental packaging options and has an understanding of waste management processes (including recycling) within Hong Kong.
