Tom Kowal is a self-motivated developer who enjoys working outside of his comfort zone. He was one of the first software craftsmen to work in 8th Light’s Los Angeles office and has been working to extend the office’s reach in the new area. He has led multiple code retreats that focus on clean code and Test Driven Development, including the Global Day of Coderetreat event in LA in 2014. Since becoming a software craftsman at 8th Light, Tom has built professional experience working on smaller e-commerce applications, as well as a large enterprise Java application. He has also worked professionally with Clojure and Ruby, and served as a teacher’s assistant for a Chicago-based code academy.
