Ted Kilian currently wears a number of hats, primarily Asia Pacific General Manager and Chief Experience Officer for Brilliant Basics as well as Owner and Principle for Encouraging Behaviour in Hong Kong.

After more than 15 years in customer experience, qualitative research methods, usability and interaction design, his working approach combines curious observation, playful ideation and conceptual structure to craft experiences that bring brand and customer stories together.

Ted has defined, designed and executed award-winning projects for clients across many industries including financial services, travel and hospitality, FMCG, telecommunications education and government. He is also a trainer, facilitator and speaker in the areas of customer experience and UX, innovation culture and humanising technology.

Having lived in Hong Kong and Singapore for over 7 years, Ted has only become more fascinated by Asia and the enormous potential in this incredibly dynamic part of the world.

Prior to joining Brilliant Basics, Ted was APAC Regional Creative Director for SapientNitro. Ted also lectured on qualitative research methods and the "geography of cyberspace" at Brighton University. His Fulbright-funded Ph.D. research on the transformation of Public Space after 1989 in Eastern Europe helped him to understand how behaviours and social meaning could be mobilised to create engagement – highly relevant to the current challenges of customer experience that criss-cross boundaries of virtual and digital, public and personal.
