Sujata Bhatt

Sujata Bhatt works at the intersection of school design, entrepreneurship, edtech, and policy. She is the founder of the Incubator School, an innovative LAUSD secondary school whose mission is to 'Start-Up Students.' The school draws upon her 14 years' experience as a Nationally Board Certified teacher, as well as her background in education reform, technology, and start-ups. Its aim is to launch students of diverse backgrounds into the entrepreneurial ecosystem of Los Angeles while simultaneously creating an open source playbook that schools around the world can deploy to rethink educational practice. She has written extensively on education reform in The Los Angeles Times, The Huffington Post, The Washington Post, Education Week, Eduwonk, The Impatient Optimist, and for Harvard Education Press. She speaks regularly at conferences including SXSWedu, BETT London, and GLS. She also serves on the Joan Ganz Cooney Center @ Sesame Workshop's Games and Learning Publishing Council and is the Director of Teaching and Learning for Kid Awesome, a start-up deploying gameplay to build children's competencies in K-2 common core skills.
