With a strong passion for cars and transportation technologies, Shimeng has spent the last 8 years translating these interests into a booming career in the field of autonomous vehicle engineering.
Having studied computer engineering at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, he started his career working on software and system, engineering aspects of the ECUs in automatic transmission systems and off-road 4x4 systems at Continental Automotive Systems. At Continental, he and his team created on one of the first transmission ECUs implemented with functional safety features for a US car manufacturer. After spending 3 years at Continental, he joined Lyft Level 5 autonomous vehicle program in 2018 and has been pioneering autonomous car engineering in silicon valley since.
