    Sarah Last

    Co-Founder, MimicTec

    Melbourne

Sarah Last is passionate about Australian agriculture and through her startup, MimicTec, is rethinking the way poultry is farmed. Sarah completed her undergraduate studies in Animal Health at the University of Melbourne before finishing a Masters degree in Entrepreneurship at the Wade Institute.

In late 2016 Sarah, together with Eleanor Toulmin, founded MimicTec. MimicTec has developed a physical infrastructure product to enrich the rearing environment of commercial meat chickens. The product improves the profitability of poultry farms by improving the welfare outcomes of chicks.

Since its start, MimicTec has won the University of Melbourne’s pitch competition, provisionally patented their technology, run eight prototype trials with chicks on commercial farms, raised seed capital from private investors and were awarded AusIndustry’s Accelerating Commercialisation grant.
