Rick is currently the Head of Data Strategy and Insights at The Farmer’s Dog, where they’re on a mission to help every dog live their best life. The department is responsible for everything from Data Engineering & Infrastructure, to Data Science, Analytics, Consumer Research, and Pricing Strategy.

Prior to The Farmer’s Dog, Rick was the Vice President of Data at Vydia, where he headed the development and execution of the video-and-audio-distributor's data strategy. Rick was responsible for Vydia's Data Science, Data Engineering, and Business Intelligence teams which together provide material insights and enhanced decision making to both the company and its users. Preceding Vydia, Rick founded the Data Science department at music & video distribution company, The Orchard, which played a vital role in the acquisition of the company by Sony in 2015.

He holds an MBS in Data Analytics and a BA in Mathematics and Psychology from Rutgers University, where he is also on the Board of Industry Advisors for the Professional Science Master’s program, offering guidance for the next generation of data practitioners.

Outside of the data world, Rick is a kick-ass dad to three incredible kids and world-traveled photographer whose photos can be found at RicardoSaporta.com. However, Rick is most famous for being the husband of the renowned author, developer, and educator Nina Saporta.
