Washington, D.C.
Pierce has been developing software professionally since the days when websites had animated "Under Construction" graphics and highlighted their compatibility with Netscape Navigator 3.0. He has done front-end and back-end web application development for MITRE, Amazon.com, Boeing, and Red Hat, and continues to do so in his current role.
Pierce has twice been a participant in the National Day of Civic Hacking (a nationwide hackathon for developing software that improves access to public services), including a winning turn in the Northern Virginia group in 2013: joining two others in developing a mobile site that provides maps to farmers' markets that accept SNAP (food stamp) benefits in order to improve access to fresh food for lower-income families.
Pierce is passionate about code, information, and the role of the web in expanding our access to both.
