Patrick Jackson
Director, KPS
Melbourne
Patrick started KPS out of high school as an umbrella for his sideline jobs doing technical support and simple websites, that quickly changed as the odd jobs turned into a full time concern. Since then he has been consulting full time to a variety of organisations in an obscure array of technical endeavours. Since 2005 that's primarily involved implementing solutions using Joomla!
Patrick was using the precursor to Joomla (Mambo, originally developed in Melbourne) when the project forked in 2005, and quickly switched to what appeared to be the easiest to use of the available versions of various CMS at the time. In late 2007 the Melbourne Joomla User Group started with a total of three people, including Patrick. Patrick continues as a co-coordinator of the group, which has now grown to over 200 subscribers on Meetup, with regular events held at Swinburne Hawthorn.
KPS now facilitate hosting for around 120 websites, and are behind the scenes on a variety of Joomla websites, with Patrick finding a niche as a local Joomla consultant's consultant, troubleshooting sites for a number of Joomla User Group members. He's now involved in several Joomla! marketing projects as part of the Joomla! Volunteer contributions team, including an upcoming campaign to encourage all Joomla! users to upgrade their sites to the latest version for greater security, improved performance and to make the most of the features that have improved in Joomla over the past 10 years.
