Nicola Hazell

Head of Diversity and Impact Programs, BlueChilli

Nicola is Head of Diversity and Impact programs at BlueChilli, where she is leading their efforts to improve gender equality, inclusivity and social impact in the growing startup economy.

Nicola is an expert in communication and innovation for social change and has more than ten years experience working in the not-for-profit, government and media sectors. She started her career as a journalist in the country's leading TV newsrooms, before working as a political advisor in Queensland and then dedicating the past five years to driving public policy reform and social advocacy through her work with Mission Australia and the Foundation for Young Australians.

An experienced speaker, panelist and moderator, Nicola is passionate about gender and social equality, with a focus on raising awareness, shaping public debate and developing innovative cross-sector partnerships to improve investment and action around some of the most important public policy issues in Australia and around the world.

She is also a non-executive Director of national campaign and advocacy group The Parenthood, and a key advisor on their initiatives to improve workplace gender equality through family friendly policies and practices.
