Nick Malcolm Preston

Nick is a data science leader specialising in product analytics and strategy. He is currently working on technology/data capability in the federal government. He has been a Staff Data Scientist and Data Science Manager at Meta/Facebook in the US and previously led the analytics team at Khan Academy.
Nick made his way into a data science career by way of a stint in strategy consulting after studying Mathematics, Actuarial Studies and Finance at the ANU.
Fun fact: while Nick loves to nerd out on ML problems, he often finds himself as an ML critic in practice - shooting down ML proposals when simpler solutions exist, or identifying statistical flaws in the application or evaluation of models.
