Matthew leads Comcast’s community investment, civic engagement and government affairs portfolio for the company’s Greater Chicago Region. In this role, he is also responsible for strategic partnerships for hyper local content platform EveryBlock. From 2008 to 2012, Matthew served as the founding President and CEO of the Illinois Science & Technology Coalition (ISTC), where he developed public-private partnerships to advance the Midwest’s profile and standing as a global center for innovation. Under his leadership, the ISTC helped attract more than $100 million for scientific research and commercialization activities in energy, life sciences, manufacturing and other sectors, established the Illinois Innovation Council, developed data.illinois.gov and launched the data-driven Illinois Innovation Index. Matthew is also the founder of the Illinois Science and Energy Innovation Fund (dba Energy Foundry), a $22+ million investment vehicle focused on promising smart grid companies. He is active in numerous civic organizations including the Economic Club of Chicago, the Chicagoland Chamber of Commerce, Good City Chicago and the Bucktown Arts Fest. He holds an MPA from New York University and BA from the University of Iowa.
