Matthew Kirk is a long time math enthusiast. He studied mathematics at the University of Washington and then applied it in quantitative finance. Later in his career he transitioned into startups where he's built patent pending algorithms. He started Modulus 7, a data science and Ruby development consulting firm, in early 2012. Matthew has spoken around the world about using machine learning and data science. He is the author of Thoughtful Machine Learning as well as the upcoming rewrite, Thoughtful Machine Learning in Python.
