Kenni Bawden has written software to help people see and predict invisible air pollution around mining sites, train children to hack web apps, create intricate popup cards, bake bread using electricity and roleplay important conversations (like voting Yes in the Voice to Parliament referendum). They enjoy using technology to help make the world a better place and put a smile on people's faces.
Kenni specialises in rapid prototyping, data visualisation, analysis and computer science education. Though they have dabbled in machine learning, scientific computing, robotics and UX design. Currently, Kenni leads a team that creates systems and software to help people improve their workplaces better and join their unions.
Python and JavaScript are the tools they use most often in their day job. In an alternate universe, they would have been a programming language designer. Talk to them about their favourite –and not so favourite– languages and language features if you have an hour or two to spare!
