Katherine Ortiz
Fellow, Code for Progress
Katherine is a fellow in the 2014 class of Code for Progress, a national non-profit based in Washington DC that trains social-justice activists from communities underrepresented in tech how to code. Before moving to Washington DC, Katherine lived and worked in the Red Hook neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York, where she worked with the Red Hook Initiative as a Digital Steward, a project of the Open Technology Institute, creating a wireless mesh network in her community. After Code for Progress she plans to bring her new coding skills back to Red Hook to work on low-income housing advocacy.
