John Hanawalt is a designer with nearly a decade of professional experience across disciplines and industries from higher ed to nonprofit and social enterprise to tech. He is lead at Mule Design, a leading digital studio in San Francisco, founded by Mike Monteiro and Erika Hall. He has created beautiful and effective design systems for clients such as the Wikimedia Foundation, Stanford University, and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Before Mule, he held lead design positions at the OutCast Agency and Elefint Designs.
John's work is clean, bold, and rooted in the belief that designers need to know how to not only make but also how to think about what they make. He writes and speaks about feedback as part of the creative process and designers' social responsibility.
When he is not designing (or writing, speaking, or teaching about designing), John is a personal trainer and proud dog dad to a rescue English bulldog-pug mix with more instagram followers than him.
In this 8-week part-time course, students learn the tools, theory, and practical techniques needed to create visually stunning designs.
