Joel Witten is the Head of Analytics at Venmo, where he spends his time modeling and understanding user behavior. He came from a theoretical background, researching breast tumor detection before switching to the world of quantitative trading at UBS. This was followed by work in data science at Squarespace, where he focused on customer life time value. He earned his Masters in Statistcs from Columbia University and degrees in math and computer science from the University of Maryland, College Park.
Joel is also an experienced instructor; teaching Statistics at NYU SPS, TAing calculus classes at UMD, and teaches swimming, just for fun.
