Joe Guppy is a writer, teacher and coach. His memoir, My Fluorescent God, about his young adult experiences as a patient in the mental health system, was an Elliott Bay Books best-seller and named a "Best Book of 2015" by Kirkus Reviews. He was a psychotherapist for fifteen years and currently teaches writing for Seattle Pacific University and Cornish College for the Arts and coaches private clients. He was head writer and cast member for KING-TV’s comedy show "Almost Live," winning eight Emmy awards. He has worked locally with Microsoft, Amazon, Swedish Medical Center, Washington Counseling Association, St James Social Services, Jewish Community Center, The Seattle Times, The Seattle Channel; in California for Imagine Entertainment, HBO, Universal Studios, Serra Retreat Center; and in Hawaii for Four Seasons resorts.
