Joanne Weaver is the founder and President of The Joanne Weaver Group, a UX + Product Design talent firm that’s been serving the NYC + Brooklyn tech scene for over 12 years, placing Mid to VP level user-centered-designers with their clients, which include startups, F500s, and high-end design firms. Joanne was voted "World’s Best UX Recruiter 2018" by way of global UX community UXswitch; she is the first American and first women to earn the title.
Prior to putting out her own shingle, she served as Razorfish’s national UX Sourcer, and spent time in the trenches at a NYC staffing agency before that, where she introduced the digital discipline and ending up focusing on UX. To all of you at GA, she can attest personally to the power of educational connections from her experience there.
She originally hails from Sunnyvale, CA and got her digital start in the San Francisco startup tech scene in 1999. She fell in love with the dynamism and entrepreneurial spirit of our industry, which still drives her today. She is also a singer and has put out 2 albums, and is working on a new album of original songs via her new project BROANNE. Indeed, it was art that brought Joanne and her business partner Rebecca Levi together, by way of a mutual candidate saying, "You’re an artist, she’s an artist - you guys need to get together!" She believes it’s so important to incorporate your dreams and ambitions into daily life, allowing all parts of yourself to thrive and shine.
