Jim McCoy
Web Designer and Full Stack Developer, The University of Texas at Austin - Strauss Institute
Jim McCoy is a self-taught web designer and developer with a background in marketing and industrial process management. Jim is an artist at heart and first acquired the taste for design while working with AutoCAD in the refiners of Corpus Christi. After becoming an early adopter of flash and ActionScript he successfully ran his own freelance web design agency. Jim was able to use freelance web design to pay his way through a degree in Information Technology from the University of Houston. Since graduating Jim has been busy programming with a focus on JavaScript (node.js, angular.js, express.js) and an obsession with responsive web design. Jim has worked for corporations like Nordstrom, General Motors and Dimensional Fund Advisors and currently works for the Engaging News Project, a grant funded project through the University of Texas, Moody College of Communication researching ways to combat online trolls and improve news website engagement. Jim lives in Austin with his wife and children. When he is not exhausted from insomnious activities like all-night coding or taking care of a newborn, he enjoys martial arts, deep metaphysical conversations and live music.
