As a product manager, James has been focused on Zipcar's in-car experience for almost 4 years. This has involved developing an intimate knowledge of their vehicle hardware platform, interviewing members on the best uses of a Zipvan cargo area, trying to buy candy bars with a fuel card and working with Zipcar's embedded systems development team... all in service of a transportation experience that just works.
Before joining Zipcar, James put his EECS background to work as a staff research engineer at MIT's Center for Educational Computing Initiatives. His main work there focused on a web-based platform for sharing laboratory experiences online but he dabbled a bit in data provenance and visualization while learning the importance of being able to both tell and listen to a good story.
James can also make a mean cupcake.
