    Isaiah Jay Carter was born and raised in Houston, Texas as an only child to a single mom. After graduating from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Political Science, Isaiah moved to Dallas to begin teaching high school social studies at North Dallas High School. During his 3 years as an educator, Isaiah has received numerous awards for this success in the classroom which led him to become the Social Studies Department Chair after his first year in the classroom as well as a curriculum writer for Dallas ISD. Outside of his work as an educator, Isaiah remains an active organizer and advocate for issues related to education in his role as the Policy Director for Education PowerED.
