Gary O’Neill is a Senior Research Engineer with the Georgia Tech School of Aerospace Engineering, serving COIA as Senior Military and Defense Specialist for the Georgia. In this role, he facilitates the Georgia UAS Working Group and has been a contributor to several research proposals related to the FAA UAS program. He is a graduate of the Georgia Tech School of Aerospace Engineering and received Masters of Aeronautical Engineering from the Naval Post Graduate School. He retired from the Navy after tours as a helicopter pilot and aerospace engineering specialist, and he served as the Commanding Officer of the Naval Aviation Depot in Jacksonville Florida. His past research at Georgia Tech focused on challenges of logistics and maintenance of complex mechanical systems, advanced logistic support systems and Condition Based Maintenance (CBM). He also teaches a module of the Georgia Tech Research Institute’s Professional Masters in Systems Engineering focusing on life cycle management and system integration and serves as a Capstone Project mentor for the program.
