Elena's story with the Data Science field started seven years ago, though back then she was just called "the math person" in a startup that was based in Kuala Lumpur with ambition to become the best at web analytics.

Elena graduated with a BSc in Economics without much prior knowledge in web analytics. However she was familiar with time series forecasting and that was enough. That was when she started being interested in online data and in possibilities of predicting human behaviour through data.

After her Masters she abandoned the idea of becoming the next MacKinsey, and went back to Malaysia to work in a startup that focused on social media research. Elena started exploring data tools as market research analyst and building regressions in SPSS. She then stumbled upon R (it's free!) and she is now slowly learning R and exploring other possibilities to apply my knowledge in the data wonderland.
