Debra Shigley

Journalist, Former Attorney and Co-founder of COLOUR

Debra Shigley is a journalist, former attorney and co-founder of COLOUR, a technology startup for on-demand hairstyling, created by women of color, for women of color. Debra graduated from Harvard, and began her career as a production assistant at CNN, followed by roles at Atlanta magazine where she worked as a beauty and fashion editor while completing her law degree at night. She then practiced employment law for a top firm, and published The Go-Getter Girls’ Guide (St. Martin’s Press), a career advice book for young women.

She has been featured in Essence, Ebony, People StyleWatch, and Redbook magazines, and has appeared as a career and lifestyle expert on The View, CNN, The TODAY Show, ABC News, CBS This Morning and many more local and national programs. Prior to launching COLOUR, Debra lived in Mexico City and attended beauty school in fluent Spanish (while pregnant with her fourth child)! She lives in Atlanta with her husband Kevin, and their four children, two boys and two girls.
