He's been doing this work since leaving the White House at the end of the Obama Administration. He filled several roles for President Obama. He was the Deputy Director (and sometimes Acting Director) of the Presidential Personnel Office, where he led teams that recruited, hired, retained, and managed President Obama's appointees across government. While at NASA he served a six month assignment with First Lady Michelle Obama, helping her launch part of the "Let's Move!" campaign. He led "Let's Move Cities and Towns," a program that recruited mayors and other leaders of over 400 cities to join the First Lady in tackling the childhood obesity crisis in their communities. Dave joined the Obama Administration after leading the national LGBT effort for the Obama-Biden campaign, and serving as Deputy Political Director of the first inauguration.
