Chicago
Darrin Tracy grew up in the suburbs of Detroit at a time when most people did not yet have a personal computer. However, as the son of a small business owner, he was exposed to computers and technology from an early age. In addition to building servers, networks, and websites for his father's business, Darrin spent his teenage years providing technology solutions for other individual and small business clients as well who needed their own website or could benefit from hardware and software upgrade and troubleshooting services.
To supplement the practical tech knowledge he had accumulated during the '80s and '90s with a theoretical base, Darrin went on to earn a BSE in Computer Science Engineering at the University of Michigan. During this time, Peer-to-Peer technologies like Napster, Kazaa, and BitTorrent captured the attention of Darrin as important, disruptive innovations to solve data distribution problems that had been nearly impossible prior to their creation.
After graduation, Darrin moved to Chicago to work in Global Market Technology, supporting the bond traders with market data solutions at Bank of America. This led to an opportunity to work in the futures trading arena at proprietary trading firm TransMarket Group, learning statistical arbitrage and growing into the role of Risk Manager. Since then, Darrin has found a home at a small prop firm by the name of Cognitive Capital, where his role in Trading Operations has allowed him to learn about processes, procedures, and best practices required by any sustainable trading business.
When it comes to his personal life, Darrin enjoys travelling to the desert, beach, or mountains with his wife Giselle and son Sebastian as well as the occasional skate around Chicago on his skateboard or e-skate. More academically, his interest in peer-to-peer technologies has moved in recent years to blockchain, ever since he first learned about Bitcoin and other decentralized cryptocurrencies in 2013. He and Giselle share a passion in the prospect of a decentralized future with cryptocurrencies becoming the future of money and blockchain technologies bringing us into the next generation of innovation and the "New Internet".
