Carmen is a former Assistant Vice President/Senior FX Onboarding Analyst turned Software Engineer. Before getting into tech, Carmen started a journey towards becoming debt-free and created a money platform called Make Real Cents (@Makerealcents) to document her financial journey. Within two years and nine months, Carmen paid off approximately 57k of debt, and in August of 2019, after saving up, Carmen quit her job in finance to learn how to code. After graduating from General Assembly's Software Immersive program, Carmen landed a position as a Software Engineer at an NYC startup. Carmen has been featured in Forbes, The Skimm, and is currently a member of Business Insider's Money Council for 2020.
