Angela Kwan

Co-founder at Catalyser, Lawyer and Entrepreneur

Sydney

Angela is a lawyer and entrepreneur based in Sydney. She recently returned to Australia after ten years working and living throughout Asia and the US. Angela has diverse legal and commercial experience in the Asia-Pacific region including practicing as an international finance and corporate lawyer in Sydney and Hong Kong with Mallesons Stephen Jaques (now King and Wood Mallesons) and various in-house roles in Hong Kong and China.

Most recently, Angela was the inaugural General Counsel, Chief Compliance Officer and Company Secretary for AVIAGE Systems, a US$2billion civil avionics joint venture between General Electric and the Chinese State Owned Enterprise China Aviation Systems, based in Shanghai. Angela was part of the founding business integration and management team of the joint venture which was a first-of-its-kind project and the largest Sino-US joint venture to date, involving the transfer of civil aviation technology, and the design, manufacture and marketing of civil avionics systems in China for the global aerospace industry.

Angela remains engaged with East Asia and regional affairs and she is currently focusing on entrepreneurial interests in real estate, education, technology and startups, philanthropy and social enterprise.

Angela holds a Bachelor of Arts (Japanese Studies) and Bachelor of Laws (First Class Honours) (2004) from the University of Sydney and obtained her Masters of Laws from Harvard University (2010).
