Formally trained as print artist/graphic designer, Alexis taught herself HTML and web design, opening a web design business in Orange County, CA. Looking to bridge the gap in her experience and offer more to her clients, Alexis worked on learning Ruby for a year on her own prior to finding General Assembly. She attended a Back End Web Development class as well as the Web Development Immersive and has worked for numerous startups in the LA area since graduating the program. Alexis has taught coding workshops for middle school and high school inner city children in the Los Angeles area as well as leadership skills for high school and college students. She breaks down problems into easily digestible pieces and uses real world examples to translate more difficult coding concepts into tangible elements.
