Professor Alberto Cairo is the Knight Chair in Visual Journalism at the School of Communication of the University of Miami. He has authored two books on data storytelling and engagement: "The Functional Art: an Introduction to Information Graphics and Visualization" and "The Truthful Art: Data, Charts, and Maps for Communication". In addition to his teaching and publishing, he has consulted with companies in over 20 countries and spoken at a wide range of events including the Google News Summit, Microsoft Data Summit, World Conference of Science Journalists, North American Cartographic Information Society, Bloomberg Business Week Design Conference, and now Visual Trumpery lecture tour.
