Interested in Virtual Reality, but not sure where to start? Learn about the different types of headsets, then create your own user interface, using buttons you've created for web and desktop applications.
This class is a crash-course in prototyping VR content in Unity. You'll get familiar with all the tools you'll need to make an Android VR experience, and you’ll play with the Vive, Oculus Rift and GearVR, and experience for yourself what works and what doesn't. You'll learn Unity’s powerful UI tools, and make a menu system in a 3D world. You'll experience your design in our VR headsets, and can show it off at home on an Android phone, with Google Cardboard.
Schedule for the day:
For this class, you need a laptop (Mac or PC) and a copy of Unity3D (unity3D.com). Please download Unity, install it, and make a Unity account. If you want to export to an Android phone, please bring that as well. If you have questions about this process, please email us at la@generalassemb.ly!
