About this class

Sometimes the hardest part of design work can be understanding and communicating with your client effectively. High expectations, lots of ambiguity, and varying needs mean a designer needs to be an effective communicator in order to be successful in any project and to be considered a trusted advisor.

This workshop will cover valuable design consultant tools and techniques for managing client expectations and gathering requirements for successful projects. Additionally, we'll touch on how to solve for project ambiguity, sharpen communication skills, practice client empathy, and become a trusted consultant.

This class is ideal for anyone working or interested in UX or program management.

Takeaways

  • Evaluate the steps in how to evaluate client requests and define the information needed in order to be successful on a project
  • Evaluate communication tools used by consultants to uncover project ambiguity
  • Evaluate the types of personalities someone could encounter as a consultant and the tools to successfully communicate with them.
  • Participate in roleplay that will be helpful in identifying key situations found in design consulting
