In observance of Halloween, join General Assembly for an introductory talk on the Dark Side of Design. We'll be learning about dark design patterns and how we can avoid and detect the pitfalls of the practice.
User Experience (UX) Design aims to create positive change in people's lives by focusing on the user. However, some companies and organizations use UX Design to deliberately mislead the customer through malicious practices.
Such design intents are called dark patterns. Our speaker will shine light on the ethics of dark patterns, how we as users can avoid and detect the pitfalls of this malpractice, and what we can do as designers to take a stand again dark patterns when pressured by our companies. Finally, we’ll look into how else those business objectives can be met through more acceptable patterns.
