About this workshop

This workshop will teach students to improve their portfolio, web page, and photography using fundamental art and photographic techniques with their smart phone. Students will learn the do’s and don’ts of stock photography and working with professionals for business purposes.

This workshop will focus on aesthetic approaches, techniques, and the concept: what is communicated with photography. Students will also focus on communicating intent with their own head shots.

Takeaways

  • Students will know more about creating and utilizing images for professional purposes (ie. should I pay a professional? Should I use stock photo? What can I do myself?).
  • Students will learn to refine imagery in their own web page and personal portfolio wherever visual.
  • Students will learn how to make better decisions on their own photographic work and learn to think about photography as a means of effectively communicating their professional intent (ie. Why is a quote paired with a photo a more powerful method of communicating with my client/user than just a quote?)

Prereqs & Preparation

Students should download Instagram, Snapseed, or other basic smartphone image editing app. No experience required!
