About this workshop

Your boss just told you to write a press release. Your team just elected you to throw together the presentation for your product release. You need to send a really, really unpleasant email, and you're going to have to face that person in the office. Every. Single. Day. If only you didn't think your writing sucked. If only.

Longtime news editor Joel Magalnick is here to help. He will walk this class through different scenarios to make you a better writer and get you to think about how your message matters. Together we will look at items such as press releases, articles, white papers and more, and talk about how they can be better.

Takeaways

  • Discuss active and passive writing tenses, and appropriate uses for each
  • Edit long-winded articles to avoid the dreaded TLDR syndrome (Too Long, Didn't Read)
  • Get rid of adjectives
  • Write our own missives and then pull them apart

Prereqs & Preparation

Come with pen and paper or a laptop. We will be getting hands-on!
