About This Workshop

With today’s technology and ability to disrupt or innovate, there are startups popping up everyday worldwide. Now, there is a whole new industry and workforce that exists known as startup jobs. Whether you are looking to make a transition from a traditional work environment or just starting your job search, this class will explore what it’s like to work for a startup.

In this class you will learn what defines a startup, what types of startups exist, how you can position yourself and get a foot in the door, and how to succeed once you land a job at a startup.

This class will also share tactics, resources, and tips to improve your job search and kickstart your career in a startup culture.

Kevin O’Connell is an Entrepreneur, Digital Storyteller, and founder of The Niche Movement, a community of young professionals helping others find the work they love. Kevin is TEDx speaker and has more than 10 years experience designing career and leadership development strategies for students and young professionals entering the 21st century workforce. His passion is to end employment unhappiness for this generation. The Niche Movement has 20+ contributing editors and has spread through Kevin’s and his teams keynotes and mentorships at several organizations including Rutgers University, Stevens Institute of Technology, APCO WorldWide, American Disabilities Association, and Penn State University.

When Kevin is not launching new initiatives for The Niche Movement, his day job is running FYN Creative, his digital storytelling agency that is helping other organizations and business leaders who are passionate about what they do, tell their story. Kevin and his agency create compelling content, develop social media strategies, and capture dynamic stories through photo and video.

His agency has worked with a variety of clients in the education, non-profit, and start-up space including George Washington University, National Lemonade Day, American College of Personnel Association (ACPA), and VentureWell.
