By combining the immersive qualities of virtual reality with the ubiquitousness nature of the web, the vision of the 'metaverse' is almost here in the form of WebVR. Come and learn about what the future holds in store for this amazing technology.
● Overview:
During the hour and a half workshop, we'll go over the differences and advantages of WebVR over "native" VR, the best examples that have been built in WebVR, and the basic technology behind it. I'll also share my experience transitioning from a web developer to a WebVR developer and provide suggestions for those looking to do the same. For the last 30 minutes, students will follow along in a coding exercise to build a WebVR scene using only HTML (please bring your computer to the workshop).
● What You’ll Take Away:
At the end of the workshop, students will walk away with an understanding of the technology and field of WebVR and the know-how to create a VR scene for the browser.
