Director of Product Marketing,
Amelia is the Director of Product Marketing at Refinery29, where she builds digital user experiences and brings new products to market with robust user research. Having a background in startup, tech, and international consulting, Amelia found the perfect mix at Refinery29. She began her career as an Environmental Consultant, working on programs for top Australian retail, mining and utility companies. In 2011 she co-founded a social business, Komai, focused on building creative projects with social impact, and funded and built a music school and teacher training program in Malawi, South East Africa. Komai is now a program at The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in New York. Amelia has an Honors degree from the University of Sydney, Australia where she majored in Anthropology and Biology and received First Class Honors for her Thesis in Ecology. Amelia is driven by her interest in how people interact with the digital and non-digital worlds, and discovering ways to infuse creativity in everyday lives.
QA & Product Support Team Lead,
Brittnee has been championing for quality software development and user support @ Refinery29 for nearly 4 years and is passionate about making R29 the best experience it can be for all of our 200M+ users. Before finding QA engineering at a small startup, Brittnee cut her teeth in everything from PR to graphic design and even spent some time moonlighting as a manicurist... she's proof positive that it's never too late to get into software development. Brittnee is a Brooklynite by way of Boston who loves sports, television and rap music.
Senior Software Engineer,
Cara is the technical lead for all things Growth at Refinery29. She has a Masters degree in Economic and Social History from the University of Cambridge, and is responsible for maintaining Refinery29's UK and German websites.
Engineering Manager - DevOps,
Janice is the Engineering Manager for the DevOps team at Refinery29. Prior to joining Refinery29 in 2015, she was the Technical Project Manager of Infrastructure & Operations at Healthfirst. Previously, she held various management positions in TechOps and Infrastructure Engineering at Gilt Groupe, Hearst Media, and iheartRadio. Earlier in her career, Janice held a senior software engineering position at Thomson Reuters. Janice started her career as a lead application developer at New York Presbyterian Hospital. Janice graduated from Columbia University with a B.S. in Computer Science.
Lead Software Engineer,
Laima Tazmin is a staff engineer and technical lead at Refinery29. She received her B.S. in Computer Science at Columbia University and has worked as a software engineer in companies big and small. At Refinery29, Laima is focused on building out the publishing platform that enables our global editorial and creative teams to create and distribute content worldwide.
Ilana studied sociology at NYU and began her career as an editor at the Huffington Post. She quickly realized that she'd rather be programming, and she attended the Flatiron School to facilitate her transition into tech. Most recently, Ilana has been a programmer at Refinery29 for over two years, where she has gotten the opportunity to fulfill a variety of roles. She launched Refinery29's first native mobile app, ThisAM, and it currently has over 130,000 downloads. She also mentored an intern through her summer project, leading to her initial hire. Ilana is a Pittsburgh native and has been living in NYC for seven years.
