About this workshop

Enjoyed your first encounter with Python and ready for more? Interested in future coursework in data science? This intermediate workshop will build upon the concepts and syntax you’ve already learned to give you a more powerful Python toolkit with which to work with data and automate common tasks.

Class will begin with introduction to object-oriented programming, a paradigm that will allow you to better model real-world data. Over the three hours, you’ll see to structure your code into reusable functions, classes and modules. You’ll move past the REPL and become familiar with Jupyter Notebook, a powerful and flexible development environment. You’ll master working with files, easily reading in from and writing out to a variety of formats. Finally, you’ll learn different methods for getting data from the web, including from APIs and via web scraping.
