Overview: Many events centered around Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) in tech rely on the same format. More often than not, this involves a panel of tech companies sharing stats on the lack of representation, and discussing company-wide initiatives to move the needle towards a more diverse and inclusive workforce.
Rather than following suit, The Mosaic Series seeks to put those affected by the lack of diversity and inclusion in the NYC tech community at the forefront of the conversation. We invite key players in the tech community to take a backseat and listen to the raw experiences of these individuals in order to generate actionable changes for companies to implement.
VOLUME #3: The third event in the series will focus on true allyship and what the tech community can do to promote a culture of shared responsibility for progress. Together, we will brainstorm what it means to be an ally and what that should look like through a few activities and use that to kickstart the discussion.
AGENDA
Why It's Important: Although it's exciting that diversity and inclusion has become increasingly important to the tech industry, excitement is not enough. Companies generating statistics on the lack of representation, or even talking about it at conferences, is not enough. In order to make systemic change, we need to make sure tech companies listen and take real, sustainable action.
That is why we started the Mosaic Series. Our mission is to create a consistent space for participants of diverse backgrounds to share their experiences in the tech world in order to generate actionable changes for invited companies to implement. After each event, we hope that participating companies report back on how the action items have been implemented to promote accountability.
