About this event

SPARK Boston, State Senator Eric Lesser, and General Assembly are partnering to convene a discussion about the Millennial Engagement Initiative, a public outreach effort led by the Senator and his millennial colleagues to hear the concerns of Massachusetts millennials and legislate solutions on behalf of this generation. Our panel will be discussing the Initiative, the listening tour, and legislation they’re pushing on behalf of our generation. We’ll also hear how we can help support that legislation and continue the Initiative’s work.

Why it matters?

In 2015, State Senator Eric Lesser led the Senate’s millennial outreach with a series of roundtable discussions in 11 cities and towns across the Commonwealth. After he and the Senate Millennial Caucus heard directly from young people, they released the 2016 Millennial Engagement Initiative to help drive policy reflective of their generation’s priorities, such as financial literacy, public transportation investment, student loan reforms and more.

The Initiative proposed a series of bills to this effect and promised more public engagement and accountability between the state legislature and millennial constituents. As the Senate Millennial Caucus works on current and new legislative priorities, it is critical for Boston area millennials to participate in these conversations and advocate for housing, economic mobility, and more to our elected officials.

What you’ll take away?

Join our panelists to hear about the Millennial Engagement Initiative, the priorities of millennial legislators, and what policies they are fighting for in the State House. This event will include a panel discussion, followed by a dialogue between panelists and attendees. The panelists are actively seeking the input of Boston-area millennials as they craft legislation and advocate for our generation in government.
