Set your 2020 financial goals in motion with a good ol' fashioned finance meetup!
Kate and Owen, co-hosts of The Australian Finance Podcast, will be hosting an event for beginners getting started on their journey to financial independence. Along with three expert panelists and networking (and with a cheeky wine or beer!), the duo will help you set yourself up for financial success.
Founder & Editor,
How To Money (HTM)
Kate Campbell is the founder of How To Money (HTM), a personal finance platform for young Australians. Kate created HTM from a passion to help young Australians start talking about money, and share the resources she finds along her financial education journey. Regardless of the outcome, Kate thought that the goal of financial independence was a great motivator for her to learn more about her finances and gain more flexibility over her time. This led Kate to starting her own journey to financial independence a few years back and she now works in the Australian financial services industry.
The Rask Group
Owen is the Founder of Rask Australia, an online finance and investment education, news and analysis platform which provides free educational services to more than 100,000 Australians every month. Previously, Owen was an analyst at The Motley Fool and Zenith Investment Partners.
Nicole Haddow Freelance journalist and author
At thirty, journalist Nicole Haddow
had an unstable income, no financial plan and only credit-card debt to her name. But less than two years later she was a homeowner.
In Smashed Avocado, Nicole explains the steps she took to purchase her own home, and interviews other people who have found diverse ways to enter the property market, including rentvesting, flipping, Airbnb, tiny homes and buying regionally. She even thrashes it out with Bernard Salt, the man who said young people should stop splashing out on expensive brunches if they want to own their own home.
The home ownership dream might look different today, but it’s still possible to make it a reality.
ARGYLL Consulting Pty Ltd
Susan Campbell has long held the view that women should have the knowledge and resources to start investing for themselves. This interest grew when she ran financial seminars for the state government specifically for women, which showed her how much women leave it to their male counterparts when they are more than capable of tackling it themselves. Susan was one of the first foreign exchange dealers in Melbourne after the float of the dollar and has worked in treasuries and dealing rooms in Australia and London. She also worked as a senior lecturer at RMIT University and La Trobe Graduate School.
The latter half of her career has been in risk management consulting and training through her company Argyll Consulting. She was a N/E Director of Heritage Bank, Australia's largest member-owned bank, for the last 14 years. Susan is currently a director of Benetas Aged Care, a for-purpose charity providing aged care and independent living services in Victoria.
