About This Workshop Series

Note: This 2-Day HMTL & CSS Weekend Workshop is a 2-day, Friday & Saturday, series. First class will be on March 24th and the second class will be on March 25th.

Dive head first into HTML & CSS. This workshop takes a project-based approach to HTML & CSS. By distinguishing good code from bad, participants will focus on learning a subset of the good parts in order to make something (quick and) awesome.

Tackle the barebones of how to quickly develop a web site, and get it live on the Web by the end of the workshop.

  • New HTML5 elements and CSS3 properties.
  • Understanding Inline vs. block elements.
  • Setting up site navigation.
  • Floats and Clear.
  • 2 column layouts and sidebars.
Mar 25
Saturday, 25 March 12:30 5:30 pm EDT Developing a Web Template
  • HTML/CSS getting started & best-practices.
  • Using classes, IDs and understanding CSS specificity.
  • Developing an "about.me" type portfolio site.
  • Margin, padding and all things Box Model.

Prereqs & Preparation

Basic HTML experience may be helpful, but is not necessary. Bring a laptop to class (Mac preferred but not required). Please download and install Sublime Text (Hint: the download button is on the home page). Please email us prior to class if you have any additional concerns or questions.
