In this free, two-hour livestream, we’ll cover the purpose of visual design, the theory behind design thinking, and how it relates to UX design. You'll learn some basic visual elements and design principles, including typography, colour, contrast, gestalt principles of perception, and more. You'll leave with an understanding of the UX fundamentals of visual design and design thinking, and the knowledge to go on and create work of your own.

J.L. Woodson is a multidisciplinary creative, specializing in Visual Design, Photography, and Videography. He shifted his career to Graphic Design in 2009, creating Book Covers, websites, and other marketing materials for New York Times, National bestselling authors, and independently published authors. During that year he also founded Woodson Creative Studio, and has dedicated his company to providing high-quality Book Cover Design as well as other Graphic and Web Design support for his clients.
Some of his clients include National Best-selling authors Naleighna Kai, Martha Kennerson, Shakir Rashaan, Susan D. Peters, and New York Times Best-Selling Authors L.A. Banks, Brenda Jackson, Mary B. Morrison, Brown Girls Books (a Publishing Company founded by National Best-Selling Authors Victoria Christopher Murray & ReShonda Tate-Billingsley). He has also worked with companies and brands such as Leo Burnett and VH1 (Black Ink Crew Chicago/9MAG TATTOO).
J.L. studied Graphic Design at Columbia College, Chicago, and is an Alumni of General Assembly's part-time UX Design Course. He is an active member of AIGA (The American Institute of Graphic Arts). He splits his time working on design projects, hosting Intro Livestreams for GA, as well as traveling for photography and different Design and Literary Events.
