About this workshop

Sketch is a fantastic new tool for communicating ideas and building user interfaces. It is simple, powerful, streamlined and on task - entirely free of the bloat associated with complex apps like Photoshop.

Learn how to grasp the essentials in this session. Whether you’re a seasoned designer or an interested newcomer, you’ll be able to begin to build user interfaces for apps or websites, and master the basics.

  • Understand the interface, layout system and workflow of Sketch
  • Get things done using symbols and shared styles
  • Applications of tools, exporting assets

Takeaways

  • Working understanding of Sketch’s interface and capabilities
  • Sketch vs. Adobe CS: the differences, benefits, and limitations
  • The ability to get started using Sketch as a primary tool

Prereqs & Preparation

REQUIRED: Bring a mac laptop with a free trial of Sketch pre-installed. (We love PC’s too, but Sketch is currently only available for Mac). You will need to be able to cope with simple downloading and file handling.

RECOMMENDED: + Bring a mouse along - it makes accurate design work much easier! + Basic working knowledge of applications like Photoshop or Illustrator is helpful but not a necessity.
