About this event

A new hire that doesn’t deal well with criticism; a colleague that takes credit for your ideas; an officemate that chews too loudly; founders that can’t agree on equity splits. Conflict in the workplace is natural, it is inevitable, but it can also be incredibly detrimental to productivity, creativity and general wellness. Now that the Google study of what makes teams successful is making the rounds (TL:DR trust, based on listening and communication), it is more important than ever for potential hires (and hiring managers) to develop soft skills and the ability to communicate effectively, especially through challenging topics. In this introductory workshop, we will identify and explore one of your personal triggers (the moment when conflict begins), understand what underlies it and use that to develop a device to clear your head and make way for constructive communication.

Overview: According to Google, the most successful teams are built on trust, through excellent listening and communication, but we have few spaces dedicated to developing these soft skills. In this workshop, we will learn what gets our blood boiling in office conflicts and practice the first step in constructively managing conflict- cooling off so we can think and communicate clearly and effectively to solve it.

What You’ll Take Away: You will identify a conflict trigger, and develop and leave with a personalized device to defuse those trigger feelings and responses, so that you have the clear head space to communicate calmly and constructively through the conflict.

Why It Matters: Conflict in the workplace is natural; it is inevitable; and if met with strong self-awareness and communication skills, it is incredibly useful for boosting productivity, creativity, general wellness and success.
