About This Workshop

You have to crawl before you can run, and with a coding career, it’s no different. This is the perfect place to take your first steps.

In this free, 2-hour class, get hands-on practice applying the basics of HTML and CSS, and find out if a coding career is right for you.

You’ll learn about how programming powers the web, and what it could look like to have a career in software engineering. Then, move on to live practice of basic HTML & CSS syntax to drive it all home. Bonus: there will be time at the end for live Q&A with the instructor.

We'll see you in class.

About the Instructor

Matthew Huntington Photo

Software Engineering Faculty Lead, General Assembly

I approach coding as almost an art form, concentrating on making the code as easily understandable, scalable, clean, and elegant as I can. I try not only to answer the immediate problems of the client, but to also anticipate what future needs they may have.

I've worked as developer for about 15 years now, and I have a full understanding of all aspects of development (server side, client side, and mobile). I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Vassar College with a degree in computer science in which I received departmental honors. I've worked for many clients in New York including, Nike, IBM, Pfizer, MTV, Chanel, Verizon, Goldman Sachs, Nestle, AARP, and BAM.
