About This Event

Data drives decisions; are you part of the conversation around data?

Regardless of your industry or role, fluency in the language of data analytics will allow you to contribute to data driven decision making. This workshop will put you in the driver’s seat to understand, analyze, and interpret data so you too can join the data conversation.

In this hands-on introductory workshop, you’ll learn to ask the right questions of your data, while learning basic analytic functionality in Google Sheets. Your newfound data analytic skills will be applied to real-world datasets, allowing you to develop recommendations based on your findings.

Chart your own career path. Pick up where this workshop leaves off. Learn the fundamentals of data tools like Excel, SQL, and Tableau in 10 weeks in our part-time, on-campus Data Analytics course or online in our mentor-driven Data Analysis Circuit. Step into the world of data analytics with General Assembly. During our introductory workshop, you’ll join the data conversation and see how analytics drives decision making across industries. Learn to understand, analyze, and interpret data as you:

  • Walk through the fundamentals of data analysis.
  • Understand how data analysts translate their findings into succinct, actionable business insights
  • Perform an exploratory analysis using real-world data.

Please Note: A laptop is required for this workshop.

Preparation

Please Note: A laptop is required for this workshop.

Students should be familiar with the basic functions of their computer, but no previous experience in data analysis or Google Sheets is required.

Juan tackles big problems with creative solutions as Data Programs Manager at the Office of Finance for the City of Los Angeles. His role merges data analysis and visualization, storytelling, a wide network of web tools, partnership building, and a wealth of public speaking and project management. Last year he also started his own business during his free time offering freelance professional and educational data-centric services to clients such as General Assembly, First 5 LA, and Annenberg Tech.
