Are you interested in education and technology? Curious about how technology is changing classroom education? Would you like to expand your professional toolkit? Or maybe are you interested in exploring a career change?
This intensive workshop will introduce you to the emerging world of educational technology. As more tech tools (software, hardware, Internet-based platforms) are being integrated into the classroom, educators & technology specialists are still working to develop a set of best practices to leverage the benefits of technology in K-12 schools and beyond.
This workshop will explore a variety of learning standards & technologies currently deployed in schools around the country. These include the technology standards proposed by the International Society for Technology in Education.
You will cover digital citizenship and media, information, and technology literacies. You will also learn about some of the essential emerging educational tools and skills, such as educational videography, computational thinking, the growing maker’s space movement and the Google Suite for Education.
Some of the hands-on activities you will do include: create a poster on the ISTE standards or digital literacies, make a story board for a micro movie, design a lesson plan incorporating computational thinking, and plan a maker's space project.
Whether you are a teacher, technology professional, interested stakeholder, or considering a career change, this workshop will introduce you to a wide variety of contemporary educational technology tools and standards.
